WHS Junior Zoe Marzi Awarded CASIT Scholarship

In late September C.A.S.IT (Centro Attivita Scolastiche Italiane), the organization that supports Italian teachers/their students/classrooms, President Mrs. Gioconda Motta reached out to recognize the Wilmington Public Schools Italian program.

“Italian National Heritage Month” (October) kickoff and was held on Friday September 30th at the Massachusetts State House in the House of Representatives. Massachusetts Lt. Governor Karyn Polito started off the celebration by speaking about her Italian Heritage, her family values, reading the proclamation to begin the month-long celebration of Italian Heritage. House Speaker Mr. Robert De Leo, Italian Consulate General Mr. Nicola DeSantis, State Representative Mr. Kevin Caira, Wilmington World Language Curriculum Team Leader Mr. Carlos-Luis Brown, Wilmington Middle School teacher Ms. Katia DeStefano, and WHS Junior Ms. Zoe Marzi were in attendance, among others from across the state and from various organizations to celebrate.

At the kick-off Ms. Zoe Marzi, Junior, was recognized for her hard-work, dedication, interest not only in Italian language but also in culture as well as her successes across other academic areas. Mr. Carlos-Luis Brown was also in attendance to accept a generous check from CASIT to be used to benefit the Wilmington Italian program.

As a World Language Department we are very proud to see the hard work of our students and staff representing the Wilmington Italian program at this event.
